September 14, 1997 marked the opening game for the 79,734 seat with 294 private suites, NFL Stadium for the Washington Redskins. Constructed in just 18 months for then team owner, Mr. Jack Kent Cooke, the stadium features structural steel arms reaching out to support the upper seating deck.

The stadium is framed with cast-in-place concrete columns, beams and one-way slabs and is supported on a steel H pile foundation.
