Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (Design/Build)

Driving on the most traveled segment of the turnpike west of the Miami’s airport, a 27-foot tall mosaic of Our Lady of Guadalupe suddenly appear on the side of the church. The colorful mosaic depicting the patroness of Mexico and of all the Americas, is set against the white exterior church with a modern design. The mosaic is made in the traditional Italian style whereas the artwork is constructed by hand, from the finest Venetian glass mosaic tiles on a concrete tilt-up panel. The 1,200-seat main sanctuary’s roof designed in the shape of a cross, has a full-length cruciform clerestory to allow natural light to flood the space, while the egg shape Chapel provides an intimate setting for the parishioners. The buildings, including an administrative office, are all constructed with tilt-up panels, along with the 83-foot tall bell tower. All three buildings are connected together with a cast-in-place concrete canopy.
