Miami Cancer Institute

A comprehensive diagnostic and treatment cancer center that consists of a six-building complex, including a 240,300 SF outpatient care and advanced imaging facility; a 125,900 SF laboratory building; a single-story building with a basement that houses three proton therapy treatment gantries; an 800-car staff garage and 400-car visitor garage; and an 18,800 SF central energy plant.

Cancer treatment spaces include radiation oncology therapy, phlebotomy services, medical oncology clinics, infusion bays and ‘rapid treatment’ stations, a linear accelerator, exam and consultation rooms, and two CT / Sims, along with many other amenities, such as a meditation room, chapel, conference and education space, dining, outpatient pharmacy, and outdoor gardens and terraces.

The structure consists of reinforced concrete with exterior precast walls, which reflects a modern design influenced by Baptist’s Mediterranean style and features large glass canopies at all entries. The project is LEED Certified®. The campus is designed to withstand high Category 5 hurricane winds.
