The project consists of a 1-story, 54,454-SF Publix supermarket and a 2,000-SF liquor store, replacing an existing store at Oakland Centre in Lakeland, Florida. The original building was demolished to make way for new construction. Located within an existing retail center, the Publix features a distinct façade design that sets it apart from the adjacent buildings. Façade modifications were also made to the adjoining retail center, which is undergoing renovation. Our team provided structural services for both the grocery store and liquor store, including shallow foundation and slab-on-grade systems. The slab was designed with appropriate depressions and recesses to accommodate freezers, coolers, and entry points. The structural design for the Publix shell included the loading dock, masonry walls, and the building’s internal structure.
