Miccosukee Commercial Zone

The project, located off Tamiami Trail west of Miami, redeveloped 8.75 acres of vacant land into a commercial plaza. The site includes a 1-story, 15,000-SF commercial building with a general store, restaurant, souvenir shop, and leasable space. The building features open trusses, wood columns, and a standing seam metal roof. A heavy timber-framed dining pavilion is incorporated into the site. The development includes a 250-space on-grade parking area that also serves as overflow parking for the nearby Shark Valley Visitor Center. Foundations were provided for a tram station and a picnic area featuring chickee huts, both consisting of a covered shelter over a 10-foot sidewalk and 12-foot loading zone. A back-of-house service area was also added to the site, complete with an elevated parking lot supported by backfilled soil and retaining walls. This elevated lot includes a security gate house and ramp.
