The 75,000 seat, 216 suite NFL stadium for the Miami Dolphins and, using a hydraulically activated retractable seating system, converts to a 55,000 seat MLB ballpark for the Florida Marlins. The stadium opened in August 1987, and is the first privately owned major league stadium. The stadium is framed in cast-in-place concrete using the wide module pan slab system. The primary structure is supported on post-tensioned strip footings.
